An update on our progress, and exciting news about ICON

I was recently telling someone about the slow process of building Armadillo Stock, and he asked if I had considered vibe coding it with AI. The answer was no!!! Even putting aside our anti-AI ethos, I would much rather take the time to lay a proper foundation that can be reliably built on, rather than slap something together for expediency that only creates problems in the future.

Unfortunately that means we won’t be launching the site in time for ICON: The Illustration Conference this week, like I had originally (optimistically) hoped. We are making good progress, and we’re currently working on the Explore page where artwork can be discovered by clients. I’ll keep your posted on our actual launch date, which is looking to be closer to the end of summer.

If you’re attending ICON, I do have exciting news. I’ll be giving a short talk from the main stage this Friday as one of the Kaleidoscope speakers! I’m so thrilled to talk about Armadillo, stock illustration, licensing, and AI to a large audience of illustrators and art lovers. I’ll also be handing out stickers, so make sure you find me and say hello.
